Information : Summer Activities 2010

Throughout January, the CCMDC will be running a number of Summer Activities in partnership with OCCI, Gosford and Wyong Councils, Australian Seabird Rescue and the Community Enviornment Network.

Bookings are essential for all activities and costs vary.

News : Marine Discovery Centre - Now Open

The Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre (CCMDC) opened its doors to the public on Boxing Day, 26 December, 2009. After months of work from volunteers and supporting organisations, the CCMDC is ready for visitors.

Features of CCMDC include:
* Displays of local marine life, environments and history
* "Touch pool" where you can meet the rock pool residents
* "Sea Star Theatre" audio-visual programme
* Kids activities - including story time in the Little Fishes Reading Room, Junior Marine Scientist quiz, plaster craft.... and lots more
* Dive Wreck Room simulating the underwater feel of the ex-HMAS Adelaide (to be sunk as an artificial reef)
* Tourist information and bookishop
* Lagoon cafe for tea, coffee, ice-creams and drinks

Come in for a visit - 10am-4pm daily through January (closed New Year's Day)

The MDC is located at 11 Terrigal Drive, Terrigal - near Rotary Park (opp Terrigal Pacific Motel)

Admission: $4 Adult, $2 Child/concession $10 Family (2A, 2C)

News : Keys handed over for Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre

The Minister for Lands, Hon Tony Kelly handed over the keys to the former Terrigal Tourism Office on Wednesday, 5th August. The building will be fitted out as the Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre commencing immediately. It is planned that the Centre will open in December 2009 before the school holidays.

News : Marine Discovery Centre has found a home !

The Marine Discovery Centre has found a home at the old Terrigal Tourism Office located on Terrigal Drive. It is expected that the premises will be able to be occupied by November, 2009 with a full program of activities in place for the December / January summer holidays.

The announcement was made on Wednesday 20th May with Belinda Neal MP, CCMDC Convenor John Asquith, University of Newcastle Pro Vice Chancellor Stephen Crump and Assoc Prof Bill Gladstone in attendance.
